Your Artwork Deserves Special Attention
When you choose Brown Deer Framing, you're choosing a framer whose standard is conservation framing. What does that mean for you?
Conservation framing employs the use of materials that have been proven to protect and maintain art as close to the original condition as possible. We offer acid free matboards, backings, tapes and mounts as well as specialty glazing such as UV glass, reflection control and museum glass. Having your item framed right the firt time allows you a lifetime of enjoyment.
Almost one in every four framing jobs at Brown Deer framing is a re-do--items that have been previously incorrectly framed somewhere else.
The biggest culprits are non-acid free mats, backings and hardware grade glass. If you've ever looked at piece that wasn't conservation framed you'll notice a yellowing of the mat bevel. This means the acid is migrating out of the mat and into the framing package. In time, this can cause acid damage--leading to discoloration of your artwork. Is your artwork faded? It could've been better protected with UV glass. A bargain isn't a bargain when it ruins your piece.
For very little more, you can use conservation quality materials and give your artwork the best protection possible. Top it all off with UV-protective glass and give added protection from light damage. If its worth framing, its worth protecting.
Feel free to bring in your new or existing piece for a no-obligation evaluation. We can recommend the best level of treatment for your item--whether its deacidification with an archival spray used to neutralize acids in documents and paper, or recommending proper mounts for your item, we have the knowledge and experience to guard your investment.
